We held a cherry blossom viewing party.

The rain stopped and the sun came out, allowing us to hold our cherry blossom viewing party, though we were worried about the weather. Most of the cherry blossoms had fallen due to the rain the day before, but the students enjoyed taking pictures of the blossoms and playing in the park. In addition to Japanese “sanshoku dango and dagashi” (traditional Japanese sweets), they also tasted them and drinks from their home countries, which naturally led to conversations and let them to learn about the food cultures of each country. We also saw them actually using words they had just learned, such as “beautiful,” “fun,” and “delicious,” deepening their learning through cultural exchange. Let’s continue to learn in a fun way, not only in the classroom but by engaging with Japanese culture!
